I was pleasantly surprised when Maribeth suggested a new restaurant for our dinner plans, rather than one of our old standbys across the street from work (especially since it was December 21 and I hadn't tried a new restaurant yet). Maribeth immediately sold it to me by telling me they had mac & cheese. We went to Barrel & Boar at Creekside and it was good (not great, but good). My brisket sandwich would have been better if it had been on their yummy garlic bread. The mac & cheese was good, but not good enough to keep me running back.
One other thing I would change - larger portion of mac & cheese...
Recipe: Rich, Chocolaty Cookies N’ Cream Parfaits
Friendsgiving (which ended up being post-Thanksgiving) was another perfect opportunity to test a new recipe out on my friends. I was excited about these cute, individual parfaits when I found the recipe. I found that I had much more chocolate mousse than any other layer, so I switched up how I layered these. I also topped each one with a whole cookie, rather that chocolate shavings (I used 9 ounce cups and didn't want them to be that big - I also made a double recipe that I stretched into 30 servings). I probably wouldn't make these again, even though my friends said they liked them (I thought they were just okay).
These were cute, but not my favorite. Probably wouldn't make again.
Little nagging task: Too many to list here - see below
This month deserves a bullet list of its own:
- On a wild Friday night, I moved all of the furniture around in my room. After this, I no longer have to mount my bedroom TV (which has been on the list since I moved in).
- I got my haircut for the first time in over 2 years (since I donated it). Short hair doesn't agree with me, so I'm still growing it out to hopefully donate again.
- Bought extra Google Drive storage for my travel pictures 2+ years ago. Never intended to have it this long - and now it's gone!
- I had to go to the doctor to get a physical for an upcoming trip - felt like a good time to finally finish my Hep A and B booster vaccines. Check!
Habit: Be Diligent About My To-Do List
I've been very good about my to-do lists this month - trying to make them achievable, making sure things are done in a reasonable amount of time so my "little nagging tasks" list doesn't get so long again (don't worry - it still has 20+ items on it. I'll keep working on that...)
