December 2018: Self-Care Day and Secret Santa

One for me: Self-Care Day
When December came around, I had one last PTO day that I was saving juuuuuuust in case (of illness). We can't carry the days over, so I took a Friday off for some self care. I went to an early workout class (class ended before my alarm for work would have gone off), got my haircut for the first time in over a year (in the chair before I would have needed to leave for work), got a massage, spend some time with a good friend and her 20-month old, took a nap, met friends for dinner, then went to the Miracle pop-up bar at Citizen's Trust. It was a very full and fun day!

There were so many fun details at the pop-up bar. I love a good theme, even if I don't celebrate Christmas!

One for you: Besa's Adopt-A-Senior
Four years ago, a friend introduced me to Besa's Adopt-a-Senior program and I've been participating every holiday season since. Besa matches each volunteer with a Columbus-area senior to be their Secret Santa. The program serves 1300 community seniors, asking for their wish lists and passing them on to the volunteers. The present drop off is like a big party where you can take pictures with Santa, have some sweet treats and make some crafts. My senior this year had the simple request of gift cards - he likes to go out to eat with a family member, but has a very limited budget. I'm so happy to be able to help him do something he enjoys! This event warms my heart every year and I've been able to introduce it to some coworkers who enjoy participating as much as I do!

I went to the drop off straight from a workout class (for the second year in a row) and managed to escape the pictures again! So I snagged this from Besa's Facebook page.
