2016 Resolution - The Smorgasbord and 2015 Wrap-Up

2015 was a very busy, fun, exciting year which included turning 30, buying my first home, getting LASIK, attending six weddings and visiting 3 new states with my mom. Very little of this excitement had to do with my resolution. However, albeit boring, the Clean Up & Clean Out year was personally satisfying. There is still one item lingering that will be completed in January!

So, for 2016, I landed on a compromise between fun/exciting and boring/personally satisfying but doing a little of both. I'm calling 2016's resolution the Smorgasbord Resolution.

Each month I will do the following:

  • Go to 1 new (to me) Columbus restaurant. This is part of a resolution that I toyed with for both 2015 and 2016, so I have a list of 27 restaurants (too long to share here) that I'd like to go to. The hard part will be choosing which ones to try - who's hungry?
  • Attempt 1 new recipe (also part of the 2015 & 2016 resolutions that didn't make the final cut). I received a crock pot for Hanukkah 2015, so bring on the recipe suggestions. Already on the list:
    • Grandma Roe's Chocolate Cake (with help from Leah's mixer)
    • Buffalo Chicken Dip (consume a lot of it, have never made it)
  • Complete 1 item from my "little nagging task" list - these are the items that get moved constantly between to do lists. Eventually, I move them to my *LITTLE NAGGING TASKS to do list (I added the star so it is always at the top of my lists. I also numbered the day of the week lists I use, so they're always in order. I use a very outdated list app, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Or update it. Ever.)

  • Attempt to build 1 new daily habit. Habit ideas include the following (open to suggestions for more, since there are only 10 on the list and I'm not sold on some of them):
    • Take off makeup every day when I get home for the night
    • Floss
    • Go through mail
    • Read
    • Stretch
    • Keep in touch with friends/family
    • Organize receipts
    • Clean one thing at home
    • Drink 64oz of water (I was on this train in early 2015, but fell off somewhere)
    • Put away shoes when I get home
