#13 Complete

13. Visit the Creation Museum
Completed 12/13/14

I've been vigorously editing this post, trying to keep it objective and withholding my own personal religious and scientific beliefs. Opinion definitely crept in, but I gave it the good ol' college try. Seven years ago, I read The Year of Living Biblically, which mentions the Creation Museum - it sounded fascinating. Jessica also read the book and then we learned that her aunt and uncle had visited. Naturally, we have been talking about going for all these years and putting it on the list ensured I would make myself go.

The museum has a very interesting and intricate design with things to look at in every nook and cranny. If you didn't look up when walking through Noah's Ark, you would have missed an automatronic construction worker. This place is a goldmine - it was PACKED and ticket prices are steep, as well as having multiple ticket add-ons and merchandise to purchase. Two things were clear early on: 1. the museum applies a fear tactic, attempting to scare patrons around every corner into following the Christian Bible and 2. it attacks and cuts down Evolution, rather than presenting Creationism.

The museum is just south of Cincinnati in northern Kentucky.

One of the first things you see: a little girl next to some dinosaurs. And models of kids who are surprised they didn't learn biblical history in science class.

The most alarming part of the museum to me was that it wasn't about the Creationism - it was about tearing down and poking holes in Evolution.

This museum is terrifying. Right after you see Adam and Eve having a moment surrounded by water lilies, you see the above door.

Is it just me, or does Moses look like Mandy Patinkin? And King Solomon is super attractive? And one of the builders of Noah's Ark looks like the grandpa from Duck Dynasty?
