August - Bags of Bags

Restaurant: Standard Hall
Thanks to book club again for getting me to a new restaurant again. I had here post-Nelly and the Columbus Symphony, but not yet to eat. I got the hot chicken sandwich and it was hot, huge and delicious. It was so big, I took half of it home. It was even hotter the next day. Would definitely recommend and get again!
I probably should have taken a picture before giving away the slaw and pickles that came with the sandwich.

Recipe: Baked Spaghetti (with Homemade Alfredo Sauce and Homemade Challah Garlic Bread)
I made alfredo sauce from scratch - it was easy and delicious. I used the linked recipe, but halved it. And didn't use meatballs. And my individual mini loaf pans are larger than the ones in the recipe, as half a recipe made 2 loaves.  It was good! Then, I had most of a jar of minced garlic left and half a loaf of challah in the fridge nearing the end of it's days...so homemade garlic bread it is! No recipe for that - just tried to wing it. It is hard to mess up butter, minced garlic and 2 types of cheese.
This recipe was a big success and will be made again, with little to no adjustments.

Little nagging task: Organize Short Second Bedroom Closet & Organize Tall Second Bedroom Closet
This was 2 things off the list! These tasks fit really well with the Gilmore Girls binging that took place post-Olympics. I organized my gift wrap. I'll say that again. I ORGANIZED MY GIFT WRAP. Into an organizer that used to hold my purses, hats and scarves when I lived in a tiny apartment. All I need is about 40+ years and a house in the suburbs with a craft room to say that sentence again with more feeling. I also found bags of bags in both closets. I am my mother's daughter.

Habit: Clean 1 Thing Per Day
I'm a binge cleaner. I get on kicks or streaks, which can make the tasks seem daunting. I don't do one load of laundry - I do six (and run & unload the dishwasher at the same time). I don't take out the kitchen recycling - I take out the kitchen recycling, along with the paper shredder recycling, office recycling and trash from all over the condo. So this month, I tried to do one thing per day - one load of laundry or one load of recycling. I still allow the binges when time permits, but I feel more accomplished at the end of a long day by crossing SOMETHING off my home to-do list, no matter how small it seems. SUCCESS!
