Every year that I'm in town for Race for the Cure, I participate. My company generously pays for us to participate, along with a few guests. I typically walk with a few of my friends, but totally dropped the ball this year and forgot to ask them. I decided to sign up (on the last day to register) and do the walk myself (I did run into a coworker and finished the walk with her and her siblings, so I wasn't alone the whole time). It would have been easy to sit at home that morning (and not cry - I cry buckets every year), but I'm so glad I decided to participate. It made me happy!

One for you: First Birthday Pictures
I like taking pictures, specifically when I travel. As part of my 30 Before 30, I bought a DSLR camera and it has now traveled to many exciting destinations with me. Last year, a friend asked me to take some maternity pictures for her and her husband. I was excited and nervous - what if they didn't like them??? But they did, so I realized that I could do this for my friends if they didn't want to hire a pro (I have no idea what I'm doing, but I have a nice camera and am happy to snap a few hundred frames for them - I'm a little shutter happy). So this year, when a friend said she wasn't planning on hiring a photographer to take pictures for her son's first birthday, I volunteered (then badgered her until she agreed and set a date). I took over 600 frames, edited down and found about 100 that I loved (then crudely cropped and color corrected). The parents seemed happy with the result - mission accomplished.
