August 2018 - Travel Boxes and Road Tripping

One for me: Travel Boxes
As one of my travel buddies pointed out, I'm a paper saver. Tickets, itineraries, brochures, receipts, basically whatever ends up in my hands for me to take from travel. For years I've had this travel box craft pinned on Pinterest, but haven't gotten around to making it. While cleaning out drawers in my second bedroom this month, I came across tons of said documents and decided to remedy the situation immediately. Instead of crafting, I ended up buying these boxes from Container Store that I already have a couple of and love. They look nice on the bookshelf (but won't end up living here) and look much nicer than anything I could attempt to craft myself.

Next step: make labels for the boxes

One for you: Family Road Tripping
For several months, my immediate family had been planning a vacation where we would all meet in Colorado for a week. During this planning, one of my brothers asked if I would help them out by driving part of the way to from Colorado to California with my sister-in-law and their 3 kids (they had been on a long road trip and my brother ended up having to go back to work directly from the Colorado family vacation). The plan was to stop in Utah for 3 days and visit with her first cousin and his family, who live just outside Zion National Park. Then, they would drop me off at the airport in Las Vegas on their way back to California. I was able to make the timing work and take the extra days off of work, so I was up for the adventure and happy to help them out! I feel kind of funny putting this as my thing to make someone else happy, since I got to spend 4 extra days of quality time with my sister-in-law, niece and nephews, get to know my sister-in-law's family in Utah and cross another state of my list (Utah = state #30!), but they said it really helped them out, so I'm going to count it!

We took a quick detour to see Bryce Canyon. It was definitely worth the time it added to the drive.

Zion National Park is beautiful beyond words and pictures don't do it justice.
