July 2018 - PTO and Pastries

One for me: PTO
In the first half of the year, I only took 2 days of PTO. I'm typically very prescriptive with my time off work - one or two big trips planned before the year even starts (I'm itching to plan 2019 trips, so calling any and all travel buddies!). However, in 2018, everything I had planned was for the later half of the year and only took off one day in the first 6 months (for a fantastic girls' weekend) and I ended up with some unplanned days. My birthday was on a Wednesday in July and I decided to have a mini staycation for the balance of my birthday week. I adulted really hard on those days - worked out (and saw a celebrity in one of my classes) and met with a financial advisor (which had been on my to do list for a couple of years). I also had some fun, meeting friends for meals, going to a couple of parties and attending the Taylor Swift concert. Did I organize anything in my house, like I've always planned during a staycation? Absolutely not, but I took a couple of days for myself and it was lovely.
My mom insisted on pictures of me with my birthday cake. I texted it to her that night, but now it is here for everyone to see...

One for you: Breakfast to a friend
Long story short...I had a friend in the hospital for about a week this month. She's fine, everything is fine, but it wasn't ideal/expected/etc. We were texting and she mentioned that she wanted Fox in the Snow for breakfast the next morning and was going to ask someone to grab it for her. My response was, "ME. I'll bring that to you." I was thrilled that there was something I could do to brighten her day during that time! She wasn't in her room when I dropped off the goodies, but she has confirmed that this made her happy!
