Day 270

There is a new addition to my China display in my apartment, and it is the most sentimental piece of all. My China shelf has chopsticks, a jade Buddah and a terracotta warrior status (of the kneeling archer - my fave) that I got in China. It also has a Buddah drink holder from senior year of college in the same pose as my jade Buddah. And now, I have a Chinese scholar added into the mix. When I think of China, two people come to mind - Jessica, who I went there to visit and Marge, my cousin's grandmother (and basically my 3rd grandmother) who took a trip to China. Marge was so excited to talk to my about my trip both before I went and after I returned. Marge passed away a couple of months ago and she is deeply missed, especially at the Jewish holidays this year - Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur weren't the same without her. Helene, Marge's daughter (and like another aunt to me) has a matching statue and gave me this one as a reminder of Marge and the bond we shared.

This statue means so much to me, as Marge meant so much to me and I know how much she loved her trip to China. This scholar, and Marge's memory, will always be with me...
