I need to immediately watch something funny. Or go call my parents. Maybe both.
- What made me choose this movie?
- I had heard it was good and am apparently on an Elizabeth Olsen kick after Liberal Arts. She is phenomenal.
- Describe this movie in one word. JUST ONE.
- Disturbing. I know I only have one word, but if I had two, the second would be sad.
- Would I recommend it to a friend (or talk ad nauseum with my friends about it)?
- Recommend? Yes, but with caution.
- Talk ad nauseum? Yes, these are the types of movies I enjoy discussing with my mother and gaining her professional opinion.
- Did I look anyone or anything up from the movie on IMDB or Wikipedia?
- Yes. I recognized Max in the first scene - he plays Marnie's ex-boyfriend on Girls. But, I couldn't remember his character's name in that (Charlie) and learned his name in real life (Christopher Abbott). And IMDB told me there are a lot of similarities between the fictional cult in this movie and Charles Manson's cult.
- If I was trapped on a desert island, which character from this movie would I want to be trapped with and why?
- Ted. He's attractive (hello, Hugh Dancy), was not in a cult and can cook.
- Did this movie provoke any outward emotional reactions? Crying, laughing out loud, throwing crap across the room, etc./et al. (Warning - I cry A LOT.)
- My eyes were often wide in disbelief.
- Would I stop to watch this movie at any point during a showing on TBS?
- No. It was good, but I don't think I can watch it again.
- Would I buy it on sale at Target for $5 or less (or even splurge on it full price)?
- No - see above.
