Never forget. Never again. Today is Yom H'Shoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day. The most meaningful event I participated in during college is the 24 hour Holocaust Vigil that takes place every year. Each year, names of those who were murdered in the Holocaust are read by volunteers for 24 straight hours. Each year of college I participated. I stayed up all night at the vigil on more than one occasion. I get emotional just thinking about it. This is a happy blog that shares the highlights of my day. The vigil took me on an emotional roller coaster every year and while that may not sound happy, is one of the most rewarding and favorite experiences I've ever had.
In other Jewish news, I thought about taking a picture of my "Jewish drawer," which is mentioned in the trailer for The Five Year Engagement (around 1:48). Every time I hear that in the trailer, I scream, "I have a Jewish drawer!" It holds my Shabbat candles, my magnetic menorah and the mezzuzah I've had for 5 years that has never been hung...
