I went to China and I saw a giant Buddha. Tuesday, I got up in the morning and headed to the Jing'an Temple. I spent a lot of time here - there were many rooms to explore. In the middle, there was a big fountain that people were throwing coins into, trying to get them into the highest level. After I left the temple, I stopped by the import grocery store that Jess shops at. You can get anything you want from home - but it comes at quite the price! I understand why she doesn't want to pay $16 for a box of cereal. Next, I met Jess at her office for lunch - we went to lunch with her American coworkers Holly and Brian at this little hole in the wall deli. After that, I just wanted to have a nice relaxing afternoon. I went and got what may be one of the best manicures of my life, then took a leisurely walk back to the hotel. On the way back, I spent some time at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center. There was a 6m scale model of the city that went through stages of daytime and nighttime. I liked when the model was lit up like nighttime (see picture below - this is obviously before 10pm when all of the lights go off on the buildings in life size Shanghai). I also spotted my first grammatical error in the museum (financial - minus the an), which someone graciously corrected with a pen.
Once Jess got home from work, we headed to The Bund for drinks and dinner. It was beautiful at night - I can't wait to go back tomorrow during the day! It doesn't hurt that I saw the most attractive man I've ever seen in person at the restaurant - fantastic views everywhere I looked...
