We saw warriors! Can you believe it - they let us down to the pit to pose with them! Or...we got caught in a tourist trap. I'll let you decide. We woke up early, took a couple of trains, a plane and an automobile to the pits where the terra cotta warriors were uncovered back in the '70s. They are still excavating the pits and finding more warriors - they were working as we toured Pit 1. If you ever make it to Xi'an, I highly recommend seeing the pits in descending order - after seeing Pit 1, I think I would have found the others unimpressive. But, we started in 3, made our way to 2 and then pushed our way through the crowds in Pit 1.
After spending a few hours with these men (each one of them unique - our favorite was the kneeling archer), our van took us through the city of Xi'an and then back to the airport, where we had a lovely sit down dinner at an airport Pizza Hut. We then flew to Beijing to begin our two day tour. Tomorrow, we conquer a great big wall...
